A big hello from Alfred's younger brother. I'm Tony! It's been a wild and crazy, and yes sometimes bumpy ride since I arrived at my new home. Life with 3 kids all 3 and under can be very rough! When I try to hide under the bed to get a rest, someone finds me.
Thankfully they have a pretty cool mom who saves me from getting too much love! Nothing more exciting than being pulled in 3 different directions because all of the kids want to love on you.
What can I say, I'm one popular guy!
This past week I got the extreme honor of following my youngest pal Keegan to a doctor appointment. Keegan is a very special little boy. He was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer when he was just 3 months old. He's now 18 months old, and is doing well, but he still has a long way to go.
To help keep him happy and to keep his mind off of things I went along. I wanted to make sure those doctor's didn't hurt or scare my little buddy.
He got a scan called an MIBG. This scan looks for any active cancer cells that might be in his body. He has to go through a lot just to get this scan!
Could you imagine being injected with an isotope that is radioactive? YIPES! How scary is that? But don't worry, he won't explode. The isotope just sticks to the active cancer cells (if there are any).
He has to be sedated and sent through this scary machine for about 45min. That's a long time for a little guy like him, but he handles it really well. He's one tough little man, and I'm glad I get to know him. Even though he goes through so much he is really amazing. He is always so happy and playful and doesn't let Cancer get in his way.
I really like this family, they are full of energy and fun. They always have something going on and keep busy! Hopefully Alfred won't worry about me too much. I'm adjusting well. The only thing I have to really look out for is there hyper active dog, Molly. She likes to try and chew on me, and I do not like that. I am not a chew toy.
If you want to know more about my pal Super Keegan he has a site just for him, check it out, tell him hi and let him know how brave he is. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/SuperKeeganRay
I am looking for to so many more adventures with this amazing one of a kind family.
OH and Keegan's scans this week, looked great! He continues to be No Evidence of Disease.
